We expected a lot from Modavie but were sadly disappointed on this recent Saturday evening. When we arrived for our reservation, we were asked to stand to the side for 5 minutes, which turned into at least ten. Then our server did not appear with anything except menus for a long while. During the course of our meal, four different people delivered food, no one asked if we wanted ground pepper on the Caesar salads (squished into a too small bowl), no one refilled water etc. My husnand’s lamb chops were delicious but my Basque chicken was adequate at best. Wonderful dining experience. Love the live music. Not too soft, not to loud…just right. Food was delicious. Ordered the trout in orange sauce. Cooked perfectly. Onion soup, as others have remarked, is not to be missed. Service was prompt, but never felt rushed. A must do dining experience in Montreal.
We sat upstairs where the live music was and it was perfect! The service was great, the food was amazing, the drinks were delicious. I recommend getting a reservation for 6:30 or 6:45 so you can settle in with drinks before the music starts at 7p.

We enjoyed dinner for three, sharing the house salads, lamb chops, and mushroom risotto. All the food was great, and the lamb chops were especially incredible! Highly recommend. The service by our server was excellent.
The food was okay. Worse than I expected. We mentioned celebrating a special occasion but no one seems to care. My soup was a bit cold, the hamburger was dry. The mushroom risotto was very good, saved the evening.
