A fantastic artistic endeavor let down by the food. I anticipated a delicious meal for three, but instead, I was served an artist's interpretation of utter despair and sadness. The fish, which was supposed to be substantial, turned out to be less than 6 inches long—a disappointing reality. The pie was overcooked to the point where the sauce had solidified into an unrecognizable, unpleasant goo. As for the chips, they seemed ancient and so far removed from what chips should be that they inspired me to write this review. By the end of the meal, I was half-expecting to find a hidden SOS message from the staff seeking help. Overall, the combination of these dishes left me wondering what they wer...
Not good. Went today to eat in for lunch, haven't been for a while. It wasn't busy at all in the dining area, but small fish chips and scampi took about 35mins to arrive. Fish was all batter hardly any fish, chips appeared over done and dry, scampi bread crumb was a little soggy like it had been sat keeping warm. Waitress did apologies for the delay in food coming out to us and was friendly, but won't be going back here again. We wasn't the only table experiencing delays, another table also had to ask how much longer their was hoping to be also.
It's been a couple of years since my last visit, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The safety of the staff was clearly a priority, as there were screens in place due to the pandemic. I ordered a baby fish and chips along with a standard-sized cod and chips, and I was pleasantly surprised by both the price and the portion sizes. Even more impressive was the taste—it was very delicious. I would highly recommend this place.
As a regular customer of Papas, but only just getting round to writing a review, I wanted to say this is without doubt the best Fish and Chip restaurant for miles around. The service is always friendly and efficient and the food is amazing, great quality, cooked to perfection and good value. Thank you! The staff at this restaurant are outstanding; they truly go above and beyond to assist you. My only concern is that the hand dryers are mounted on the wall between the sinks, making them too high for my 6-year-old to reach. It would be helpful to adjust their height, as children struggle to dry their hands otherwise. Aside from that, the meal was absolutely fantastic!
Pixie, our little Jack Russell, really enjoyed the take-away you prepared just for her last week. Thank you, Nick, and your amazing staff for another fantastic meal. We'll be back this Thursday for dinner. Your food is outstanding, and your restaurant is impeccably clean. I would highly recommend your establishment to anyone!
Had a really great experience, came in was greeted with an extremely friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the fish and chips were perfect and I’m usually very picky, the fish was flaky and the batter was crisp. The chips were great and portions were good size overall a great experience. Proper good scran. Great value
Excellent front of house staff, good portion sizes (compared to our usual fish and chip shop). Cod was lovely and flaky with a crisp batter, chips where cooked almost perfectly, mushy peas a bit on the dry side but still not bad at all.
