I remember several years ago that it was almost impossible to find anything more exotic than sub-par Chinese restaurants in Charlottetown, but now this little city is teeming with ethnic foods of multiple varieties. With less than an hour to eat, and having tickets to a Charlottetown Festival show across the street, Pho Vietnam brought us steaming hot food in a timely fashion. Having been to Vietnam on a number of occasions, I was satisfied that I had eaten authentic Vietnamese food, and enjoyed it very much. Dinnertime before a show at the theatre across the street, and the reviews here suggested that this restaurant would be a good idea. As veterans of Vietnamese pho and general cuisine, we give the place a passing grade, which could gave been comfortably higher with a few touch ups.The good: comfortable booths, friendly staff, decent noise level, very speedy service (good to know before a show) and a menu that is very easy to navigate. The average: the taste of the rice paper rolls and peanut sauce and the taste of the soups. What could gave made it better: Most pho places offer lime and bean sprouts with the pho. They were not an option here.
If you are Asian or know Vietnamese food, you may wish to avoid this restaurant. The pho had none of the usual vegetables and herbs to add. The fried rice was inedible. Rice, frozen mixed vegetables, and a poisonous amount of black pepper. The only thing worse than the meal was the terrible service. When we finally got the check, the waitress just gave a disapproving look when we did not want to take the food with us because it was inedible and charged us her high price. Horrible food and rude service!
This is my favorite place to eat in Prince Edward Island. Introduced to me by a friend many months ago on my visit, this was one of the most stupendous and affordable meals I've had in a very long time. Courteous servers, quickly prepared food, and authentic in it's style of cuisine. It was and always is a slam dunk. My wife and I recently visited Charlottetwon and Prince Edwards Island and had dinner at this restaurant twice. We highly recommend the food, absolutely delicious and authentic. The service was also great. We tasted three of their soups and spring rolls and loved the chicken soup with lots of greens and fresh herbs best. The "Pho Vietnam" is a great place for Vietnamese food lovers and should not be missed during your next visit to Charlottetown.
Had been craving some pho! The soup broth was tasty and the noodles and beef were very good. But sadly no basil or bean sprouts (soup was garnished with spring onions). Staff did quickly bring lemon slices when we asked. So if you're craving the real deal with your pho, you might be a bit disappointed, but on the other hand, not bad for PEI. Didn't try other menu items so can't comment on them.
My husband and I had a great dinner tonight. We're visiting from Toronto Ontario where there is large Vietnamese community with many restaurants. This restaurant is authentic Vietnamese food and the service is great!

Nice walk from my hotel. Food was very tasty and still hot after walk back to my hotel. Very friendly owners and staff.
