Basil Pizza Pasta- Merritt Island- 3 Stars for Subs 3 Star Subs, everything else is disgusting In my unabated quest to review every restaurant within the Tri-County area, I found myself sitting in the parking lot of Basil Pizza and Pasta in Merritt Island staring at the outside and debating on whether or not I wanted more Italian food. Who am I kidding? Of course I did! I took the Help Wanted sign on the door as a good indicator that the place did a spritely lunch and dinner hour, ergo, it must not suck. The inside is warm, spacious and well maintained. As I approached the counter I was greeted by the man, Basil, himself. No lackeys around here (remember the aforementioned help wanted sign)....
My family and I tried Basil’s Pizza last night. I find it interesting how different pizza is perceived by various people. I remember speaking to the owners of many different pizzerias and restaurants up and down the east coast of America. The subject of their choice of ingredients would come up from time to time. We would be trying to show them new products and having discussions about the brands that they bought and why. I can’t tell you how many owners told me they don’t use Grande Cheese or any of these quality ingredients we’ve been talking about on this thread, because they said, these people down south just can’t tell the difference, so why spend the money. I ordered the 14 pizza thinking it would be small and I had to take half back home in a box. The clerk did not want to take my tip because he had ripped part of the bottom of the pizza, but it was not so bad. The service was excellent. I thought the pizza came with tomatoe source by defect but mine didn't. Not sure if it was a mistake but it was delicious despite this. The crust was crunchy and delicious. I recommend you try them out. Good prices as well.
Once Gallo's pizza, great food service. It became Basil's, awful food service. Now it's Pockets. This place has good pizza. Don't order at night, unless you're a Chalkie's patron. Person who took my order was wasted,probably did shots at the bar! A 20 minute , carry out pie took over 40 minutes. It's a shame. Again, tasty pizza. Poor customer service at night. any pizza with the sweet basil sauce is delicious. the employees are nice. prices are reasonable. have aso tried several of the subs but prefer the pizza.
Just drive away if you care about good pizza. This is not that place. There is not one good word I can say about the food in this strip mall, nothing.
New Menu looks amazing, I actually really enjoy the Cuban sub. The pizzas are always tasty
