Japanese has become so popular nowadays it's hard for most of us to know what is authentic and what is every day. The Sashimi I enjoyed on my last visit was incredible - more than you'd expect from a strip shop, and I was there end of week on a Sunday. The seaweed salad is not the bright green packaged stuff you get everywhere but true home cured, authentic and delicious. Their tri-colored rice is also a wonderful change from the starched-up neon white rice of most places. This is a place you could drop in for a quick lunch or book to enjoy a date. Also friendly, hard-working service that you can really appreciate.
Staff were excellent and environment is nice.When in Melbourne we normally enjoy some fresh Japanese atPurple Peanuts in the CBD but went to salon de sushi based on the reviews.While the meat curry was good, and the seared scallop nagiri was very tasty, we felt the seared salmon belly and beef nagiri wasnt up to par and the other dishes including miso soup and poke chirasi bowl were good but not excellent. We probably wont be back as we like Purple Peanuts better and it didnt wow us based on our comparision of taste.
The staff here is so so nice. Although there was a sign that said no split bills they were nice enough to let us divide up the bill. The menu is very extensive. We ended up ordering 2 appetizers and 10+ rolls of sushi. The sushi was all very unique and beautiful but most of the rolls seemed to lack a distinct flavor. Although we all got different sushis they tended to mostly taste the same.
A very cool and easy sushi joint. Low key, with great service. Simple with excellent food. All dishes have a key as to being GF, vegan etc. The avocado, asparagus and greens hand roll was utterly delicious as was the aubergine hand roll, vegan heaven. My wife and son loved all the other options including teriyaki chicken and salmon nigiri. Unpretentious, easy and delicious!

We were stuck in a thunderstorm in Melbourne and popped in for a late lunch and were delighted with what we found. Decor is nothing special and this is more s cafe than restaurant, but the service was excellent, the food outstanding and plentiful and we had a great Riesling for $32.00. Would definitely go back!
Dropped in on a warm evening with some friends from overseas. Extensive menu, try the completes for a taste of everything. Friendly and attentive staff. Good range of beverages. Food was of excellent quality and made fresh.
We got great service. The staff did seem a bit off but the one guy was really switched on. Menu was a little limited for what we wanted but was interesting
Definitely a neighbourhood gem and one of the few places open in South Melbourne on a Sunday for dinner.
Also a place for takeaway.
