Date night. Came here to eat oysters and have a great dinner with drinks. The oysters obviously change and the oysters they had when we went were just ok but that’s a personal preference. They’re served with good homemade cocktail sauce, some onions vinaigrette, and lemon. We ordered the fried octopus (calamari) as the app and they were good, drizzled with balsamic and tossed with some cute and tasty red peppers that look like gumdrops. I ordered the (popular) potato sea bass that comes with shiitake mushrooms and asparagus, my meal was delish, just wish I had carbs lol. My bfs meal was the filet mignon, ps they have alot of meat la besides seafood and the filet according to the waitress so...
I normally don’t write reviews, but I felt that I had to take the time to write one this time considering the amazing service I received. I wanted to throw my husband a surprise 50th birthday dinner and Salt was so accommodating!! I worked with one of the managers, Caila, from beginning to end and she was beyond helpful. Additionally, the wait staff on the day of were excellent and super attentive. My husband had the best 50th birthday dinner alongside his family and friends thanks to the staff at Salt. The food was also DELICIOUS! Thank you so much for a spectacular evening!!
Most of what I've had over several visits has been very, very good. Cocktails are a bit pricey; seems like Manhattan rather than downtown New Brunswick. Desserts were OK, but not very imaginative or somewhat misrepresented. My biggest problem is service. Servers are very pleasant but have been consistently slow, sometimes 15 minute just to take a drink order or get requested water to the table. The rest of the staff seems to be pretty much on their toes. I'll continue to patronize Salt because the food is good, but the wow factor is missing.
Best New Dining spot in New Brunswick. If you love fresh and well prepared seafood, Salt is the place. The menu includes a wide variety of fish, all prepared with an interesting sauce and fresh vegetables. On my recent visit, I opted for the Florida Grouper, and it was great (see photo). I began with the cast iron Crab Cake all Crab, no filler and all delicious! On a busy Saturday night, the place was humming with a cool vibe and an upscale crowd. There is a public parking garage on Church Street just across from Salt.

Salt is the best restaurant in central Jersey hands down. Chef Chris and his staff keep the menu fresh and never stagnant. The atmosphere and staff uphold the expectations set by the quality of food you experience. I cannot stress how great the experience is every time we have visited. This is a can’t miss.
One of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. Everything from the bread to cheesecake dessert was amazing. I would also recommend the cocktails. Definitely a must visit in New Brunswick.
Great menu, very fresh seafood, nice atmosphere, service is good. Nice parking deck across the street for easy parking and access to the restaurant. I’ve dined here multiple times.
