We'd planned a day out on an exploratory trip for Antiques and collectibles to Wallingford and planned to leave home early (45 minutes drive) so we could treat ourselves to lunch somewhere. When we found the Antique centre (over the road) we decided to check...out the menu and it immediately grabbed our attention as we love fresh fish. After our antique browse we popped in, to be greeted by the manager owner? who led us up the (apparently scruffy from one reviewer) stairs, he apologised for lack of carpet but I remarked we liked it, sort of suited the style of the place. What a very unusual and enjoyable evening.. Taking my partner for a surprise evening out was surprisingly different and thoroughly enjoyable. The food was excellent as was the service. The surroundings were as unusual as the style of the meal, which was a shared selection...of shellfish and steak. Every dish was cooked perfectly, although we are out of practice eating crab.. we were given all the right tools to enjoy every morsel. The steak was tender and tasted wonderful. Mussels were equally tasty, and the seafood popcorn was delicious. This was topped off with a portion of chips and fresh bread, both were equally of the same high standard. Highly recommended.
Heard this was worth a visit and so booked an early dinner spot. The menu is interesting and inventive KFC popcorn anyone? with a wide variety of fish, shellfish and beef. We had scallops, naked' prawns and some Angus sirloin steak. the whole...washed down with several glasses of wine from an interesting list. Service was friendly and impeccable. This is a place that deserves to thrive it was fairly quiet when we visited so give it a go you aren't likely to regret it.
such an incredible meal and cocktail the steak baguette with chips. we were annoyed by the beautiful deco above. the personal was friendly and accommodating. one of the best cocktails I had in a long time lavender and lemon martini. that was so, a perfect place and one of the only places that wanted to serve us between the hours of lunch and dinner.
what a beautiful meal. the menu was very good with the choice for both fish lovers and steak for those who did not. we went to our jubilee meal and really enjoyed our time there. that was delicious. the lady who served us was beautiful during. a little expensive, it is certainly a place to go for a contract.
Not for me. The menu is limited though is meant to be a tapas style event …… didn’t really work for us and I’m not sure how fresh the fish is. Nice staff and a lovely bottle of wine but the whole ‘thing’ just didn’t...float my boat.
the waitress is very nice, but only so w busy. at the beginning, the old wait for water. eating was nice when it came. I will double again because there are other restaurants in wallingford that are better overall
Absolutely delicious wonderful menu fresh lobster and prawn wish I had had the oysters and crab too but saving this for next time will definitely return recommended if you like fish and beef lovely really enjoyed
4 of us went to my birthday and they always deliver. beautiful place very recommended. if they love seafood, they have to go.
