Everybody raves about Simon’s. The reason is that the food is absolutely delicious, the place is cozy and the owner and staff are genuinely interested in great service. We got there at 5pm to find 30 people in line on a Tuesday. We were all seated within 10 minutes and had drinks and appetizers in another 10. Food shortly thereafter. I had the lamb which melted in your mouth. The appetizer and dinner salad were both delicious as well. The wine we had, Bonanza, was also buttery. Can’t say enough about how good the food is. May be the best kitchen in Des Moines or anywhere for that matter. Sorry I forgot the photos, but check their site. It is as advertised.
Beyond that, the food is delicious, particularly the artichoke dip. When I'm pressed for time and can't dine in, I often order the artichoke dip to take away. When I do have the chance to sit down, I love watching the saltwater fish in the tank. Plus, I've received a complimentary piece of cake every single time I've eaten there. While I don't drink, my friends rave about the fantastic wine list. Honestly, what’s not to love?
My wife and I had dinner here tonight, and it was fantastic. We were recommended this place by some friends and decided to give it a try. It’s a small but charming restaurant. I ordered the scallops, which were seared to perfection, while my wife had the tenderloin and enjoyed it thoroughly. The artichoke dip was also delicious. We will definitely be returning. It’s a great spot for a cozy and romantic getaway.
We visited Simon's to celebrate receiving an award and a friend's birthday, and we had reserved a table for eight. Very limited room and must arrive 30 minutes prior to 5 pm to get seat. Staff is hard working and food arrived hot and is very tasty. Had lamb chops and my wife had beef tenderloin. As a first-time visitor, I absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was incredible, and the service was top-notch. I highly recommend trying the manicotti for your entree and the Mediterranean cheese as an appetizer. Make sure to arrive early, as there will likely be a line! Overall, I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all at 5 stars.
