My boyfriend and I came here for lunch a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it! We had the B.L.A.T and the steak sandwich. I really liked the beetroot relish in the steak sandwich! Took a little while to come out considering that the cafe wasn't full but overall a nice, simple, filling meal, yum.Extra kudos for the non-wishy washy menu eg. b.l.a.t just said bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato instead of the usual 'field grown bacon, himalayan lettuce from the mountains' rubbish you usually get on cafe menus these days! :)
We have been here a couple of times and with my folks down from Sydney we thought we would take them to the other side of brunswick. The menu has changed a little, the fritters are still good, though a little crumbly - the chilli jam as always is amazing. We also had the special of beans and chorizo on sourdough with scrambled eggs, though it was tasty the beans seems to have been overcooked, as there was not much liquid left - therefore very dry.Coffee was a little weak on Saturday, has been good before.
Front dining area is the better option, can see all the action, the street, conveniently next to the espresso machine, especially if you like the sound of the steamer working its maguc froothing milk.If that's full, go to the side, outdoor area, brave the weather.The middle room has a good vantage view of the kitchen, but not enough natural light or artificial, not a great ambiance.Basic brunch menu, but well cooked and tasty.We learnt to appreciates their offering after a few visits.
Went in here to have coffee with friends. Three sepate coffees ordered. After 20 minutes the first coffee arrived, but not as odered by anyone. My coffe arrived 10 minutes later. My companios 5 and 15 minutes later respectively. Coffee was OK, if burnt to my taste. Not a word of explanation or apology from wait staff. When I went to pay I had to wait a further ten minutes. In fairness the place was busy and so noisy it was difficult to think

Vibey atmosphere, with all it grungy decor. Haven't been here in a while and it's still very good. I had the scrambled eggs which were delicious. My husband had the baked eggs, but he felt he could of had more or at least more bread with it. One daughter had the burrito which she enjoyed and the other said her poached eggs with bacon were perfect. Will come back again.
The atmosphere is hip industrial. The coffee is always good and there is some outdoor seating. They open early and close around 5pm so if you are staying near Lygon St you can completely skip making coffee at home and just come here instead.
Great breakfast, coffee good and very friendly staff. Great range of wholesome food. This little place is within easy reach of the City catch tram along Swanson Street tram number 1 or 6
Love the Summer Breakfast here, with beetroot relish, avocado, soft feta, eggs & sourdough toast.

I've been coming here for 12 years and it's still my favourite place to get a coffee.
If you're in the area, this is a good spot for breakfast/coffee.
