Went to this place last night and found myself really disappointed. My family and I like to go to this place to do karaoke (I don’t actually sing) and have drinks whenever we can get together and spend the night out. We always talk this place up and have never had a bad experience here before. Last night the bar owner decided to stew behind the bar about a drink container that was brought in from the outside which one of our sober companions had brought to keep hydrated. I used to love going to Speedboat for their karaoke nights, but after tonight I won’t be coming back. I met my sisters and friends at this bar at 9:30 pm. By 11pm we had ordered a bucket of beers, several appetizer plates, plus more beers and cocktails. Then a member of our party was told after singing that we weren’t going to be allowed to sing anymore because the owner (Dawn) was upset that our table wasn’t ordering food/drink. Apparently she didn’t like the fact that a bottle water was brought in, so instead of addressing it and asking for the water bottle to be removed, she told the karaoke DJ to not let us sing. Got some dinner and wanted to karaoke on a Saturday but unfortunately the owner doesn’t allow you to sing unless you’re constantly ordering alcohol. She won’t tell you either, she’ll just let the DJ know not to call you up. It’s a bummer after frequenting this bar for years on end always treating staff with respect. The food isn’t very great anyway the oil seems to never be changed.
Dawn is the owner and she is amazing! My husband and I got take out yesterday and it was fantastic! So we came back today for some food and drinks! Perfect little hangout spot for the weekend or just for a night cap after work! I highly recommend this bar!
