Spice Merchant Henley On Thames

I have had Afternoon Tea at Spice Merchant in Cookham on a couple of occasions and very much enjoyed the experience. However, Henley was an entirely different kettle of fish. We had both veg and meat versions and much of what was offered on the menu was not present, with no alternatives being offered. NO ginger potatoes. NO pakoras. NO scones. NO selection of teas. Vegetable wrap was filled with paneer, not vegetables; an issue since two other dishes were already paneer. Orange and chocolate cake was dry and hard. Peas in samosa filling were undercooked and hard. I took friends especially for the experience and frankly, it was was an embarrassment.

Poppadoms to start with excellent dips, very freshly cooked. I tried two new starters the pistachio crusted Chicken Tikka and the crab both of which were delicious. My husband and godson both had prawn curries which they loved. Very attentive staff and lovely atmosphere and definitely going again. Highly recommend.

Food quality was excellent and the service we recieved was extremely good. Would recommend to anyone wanting a better quality Indian meal. Not cheap but worth paying the extra.

The service and food here were really good. I couldn't give 5 stars as the ladies loos need a serious overhaul, they let the great decor in the rest of the restaurant down.

Dining at this restaurant is exceptional, with generous portion sizes. The staff is efficient, knowledgeable about the menu, and incredibly friendly.
