Ordered 3 bacon and fried eggs and one bacon and poached eggs. Out came two fried and one scrambled. Explained we did not order scrambled. Waitress came back with order and said one scrambled again we said no. She left the two fried and took the scrambled away. No sourdough with the two orders left on the table, after 5 minutes asked where the sour dough was, she replied still coming, ok.... 10 minutes after first order delivered out came the fried eggs. The rest of the food was left sitting on the plate, totally cold. Where were the poached I hear you ask?! They turned up then too, also stone cold and hard eggs. Don't know where they were hiding, no explanation given. Still no sour dough. A...

We have been to spoon numerous times and the service and food has always been good. It has been some years since our last visit, but now our son lives in the area, we decided to grab a quick bite take-away today. C cold quiche Lorraine, a warmed sausage roll and a slice of carrot cake = $26.50...... HMMMM that's a tad expensive.... later that afternoon we found another Spoon close by on Wickham Street..... I note that the quiche is.$6.50 .. something does not add up???... I went back to James Street to check their costings, thinking that we had been overcharged... but NO I was charged correctly and each item was $3 dearer at James Street!!! DEPISTE THE FOOD BEING GOOD, THIS IS JUST A RIP OFF...

I obviously didn't hate it as much as much as most of the other reviewers.... That being said, I think I know where they are coming from. We were there very early, so could easily see how the wheels would come off, particularly with the service. The food was actually pretty ok/decent. I had mushroom Benedict. Hollandaise was tangy & really good & everything else was above passable, (except the eggs slightly overcooked). Coffee was watery & pretty bad & service was not impressive at all. There was an underlying tinge of disdain from the staff & they seemed harassed & a little surly. There are better options around.

Went there 2 weeks ago on a Sunday. My husband ordered a burger which was small and dry. I ordered a turkey cheese and cranberry roll from the cabinet. The roll looked great but so so dry it was inedible. In the roll there was one small slice of cheese it had not mayo or anything else to make the roll moist The coffee came and I have mine black and was 2/3 full. I am a trained barista and the coffee was poorly made. The table beside us took that long that when their meal came they had to get a takeaway. It sure was a lot of money for what we didn't get. Never gain spoon. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch

Visited at the end of rush time on a Sunday 11.30 am just on change over from breakfast to lunch menu. Staff were very upfront and said food would be an hour wait . We ordered regardless and asked if our drinks could arrive soon to tide us over . It ended up being 35 minutes but we sipped our drinks chatted and people watched. Staff were very apologetic and the food when presented was good like the fettuccine, burgers . I would come again for sure. To be honest everywhere we walked around James Street and Emporium the cafes were totally full . Adele was in town!

Our 2nd visit and very disappointed with the service from the young lady taking breakfast orders. All I wanted was a simple bacon, eggs and toast and was told this would cost more than if I ordered the Big Spoon Breakfast which was bacon, eggs, chipolatas, chilli beans, mushrooms, Rosti and toast.  Apparently I was building a meal.  All up cost us $64.90 for 2 breakfasts and 2 flat whites. Won't be visiting again.  We'll find somewhere else when next we visit New Farm.

Popular with shoppers walking the James St strip looking for a quick coffee or some easy food. The cabinets boast cakes, pies, filos, lasagne etc. Plenty of drinks in cabinets along with coffees and a small menu of offerings. We chose a slice of cake each with a coffee. Both were ok- not amazing and not all that fresh either. The usual stuff but one of us tried the gluten free strawberry cheesecake. I ate a raw cake slice.

We waited an hour and a half for breakfast that never came. We asked several times where and when and was rudely dismissed. In the end we had to ASK for a refund and they didn't even offer to bring breakfast anyway as compensation. The worst service, management and cafe I've ever been to. Will never go back. Thanks for my wilted spinach, cold toast and bacon that I could have used to sand wood, which could have been used to build an ark in the time it took to receive my awful meal. No point taking it back, just wanted to leave. Ashamed to have your pathetic, over-priced breakfast inside me.
