Overpriced and overhyped! I stopped in to meet a friend not long ago, after having been away for maybe a year. I wanted a latte, and saw two prices on the chalkboard that both started with a 5 I think it was 5.25 and 5.75. I find that a bit steep, but there wasn 't much difference between the two, so I ordered the larger. Drinks are served in mismatched, nonstandard cups, which I guess is cute, but mine didn 't look any larger than my friend 's, which was supposed to be a small. I paid with a $10. I like to tip in the range fair to generous, so when I received my change I dropped the coins, plus a $1 bill, into the tip jar. Then I realized I only had $1 left in my hand... so that $5.75 drink...
Started coming to Stone Spiral around two years ago... Used to love this place because of all the seating, the eclectic decor, and the live music, but the coffee and tea have gone downhill. First off, the prices at Stone Spiral have always felt a little on the higher end whether that's compared to chains or many of the other independent cafes in the area. I've always been okay with it, since the environment is lovely and every time I come I spend at least one or two hours. However, the drinks I've ordered have just been so consistently disappointing that I have to take away a star. A few times I got tea steeping in lukewarm, kind of foamy water the kind that looks like it's been sitting arou...
People, pets and even plants have a place at Stone Spiral Coffee. The coffee is very good and the service is super friendly and also very good. There is often live music in the early evenings and in the afternoons it 's not unusual to find folks plugged in working on laptops or conducting meetings in their welcoming space. I 've stopped in this friendly corner coffee house several times for a coffee to go, but on my last visit, I decided to stay awhile. I had my daughter and my grand dog with me and we were delighted to discover a doggie water bowl outside the door, making four-legged customers feel quite welcome. I loved the vibe of this place! I will definitely come back. When it comes to coffee shops, I think the atmosphere is almost as important as the coffee! What I ordered: small spinach salad and black coffee My thoughts: black coffee is almost the same everywhere. It tastes a little burnt but it's late in the day so I understand. I loved the spinach salad! The ingredients were good and fresh. The vinaigrette was yummy. It comes with pita chips that were also good. They had this seasoning that was somewhat spicy, but not too spicy. Overall everything was $6 which is a good deal! 4 stars because I had a good experience. Came here to see live music with a friend. When I think of a coffee shop, I think of comfy couches, dim lighting, and warm, inviting atmosphere. While the place has fun, quirky decor, it needs to work on more comfort. There were no couches or comfy furniture. The lighting is a bit harsh. The music was a bit too loud and overbearing. I did appreciate that for mugs they used a fun random assortment of mugs. They aren't trying too hard, like some hipster places. This would be a good place for a casual business meetings, but not so much for a cozy night with friends or a significant other.
Disclaimer: I didn't dine. Just came to hear a musical act with which I am familiar. Pros: 2 rooms Live music Good mint tea Whole wall of books! Ample seating Con: A little too brightly lit for a coffee house Wouldn't mind giving Stone Spiral a 2nd try and a taste.
I have been a customer at this restaurant for many years, and they never disappoint. The staff is friendly and capable, and they always find great ways to entertain their guests. There's always something fun happening!
I had never been here before but I fell in love! Such a cute, hip and eclectic little space. They have outdoor seating and a bunch of windows and plants. They serve the BEST chai latte in all of STL. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
