The temp was about 72°F inside which was not unbearable but it could have been a little cooler. Aside from that everything I tried was great. I had greens, Mac Cheese, yams, Shepard pie, fried vegan rice, jumbalya and okra gumbo with a strawberry lemonade drink. I got a side of fried mushrooms to go also. All were very healthy portions!!It 's a cafeteria style service with food served in to-go containers. There is not not a whole lot of seating room so you better get there early if you want to dine in as this is a very popular place. This is one of my favorite places to eat at! Cool atmosphere. Great service. Awesome menu. However...I recently applied for a position of employment, I was contacted by Mrs. Smith about coming in for interview. Went in to try and catch her before she left. Ordered some food and asked for her. An employee went in the back to see if she was available, unfortunately she wasn 't. A gentleman came out the back aggressively and asked me "WHO YOU? "As I proceeded to introduce myself and tell him my reasoning for being here, I felt it was totally unprofessional and definitely didn 't seem like the ideal place or person to work with.
Maybe because I 'm from Atlanta and I 'm used to the places that I go to there, that this food was not hitting for me nor my lady. I read the name of the business and didn 't realize that they are dead serious when they say 'sweet soulfood ' because everything tasted like sugar. The macaroni and cheese was sweet, the sweet potatoes was super sweet, the cauliflower was sweet, the red beans and rice had hard beans. I would also acknowledge that based on the majority of the reviews I 'm in the minority but this food is a no for me.
I recently visited this restaurant for the first time and was impressed by the delicious Mac and cheese and the tasty orange cauliflower dish. The crispy coating on the cauliflower was especially enjoyable. While the jambalaya was just okay, I wasn't a fan of the bread pudding. The portions were generous enough to share. I discovered this restaurant and it was a great find! The food is absolutely delicious and the staff is wonderful. The mac and cheese was creamy and had a slight hint of sweetness that I loved. I also enjoyed the unique orange cauliflower and the flavorful jambalaya. This is definitely the place to go for authentic vegan New Orleans cuisine! They offer a variety of vegetarian options, as everything is vegan.
The food here is amazing, affordable, and the portions are large you will have leftovers! The mac n cheese is to die for, but everything is great. Their juices and cornbread are tasty as well. Also, the owner, Anthony, is very kind and the type of business owner that deserves to be supported. Be careful where you park. All of the spot on the H&R Block side are illegal and you will get towed.

I recently visited Sweet Soulfood and I have to say, it was the best vegan food I've ever had. I ordered the pick 4 with sweet heat cauliflower, mac and cheese, greens+cabbage, and sweet potato, and everything was delicious. I will definitely be returning to try the cornbread.
