As big fan of Halstead ave taqueria, I was very excited to try this sister restaurant. The food did not disappoint! However, the service left much to be desired. We had a 7:30 reservation and there was no hostess to be found for at least 15 mins. When I asked the bartender about our reservation, she looked very confused as if she didn’t even know what a reservation was and said she’d check. She didn’t. We asked her for margaritas while we waited. Those took 20 mins. They brought one of my friends dinners and the rest of ours took 10 more mins so hers got cold as she waited. Absolutely love this place. Came here with a colleague for a quick drink and some chips guacamole. The tacos looked so good I said I will return. The staff was beyond friendly. The drinks here are made from scratch and you can tell the flavor. I ordered a margarita and my friend got a mojito. The tacos at the shack are bomb! They are flavorful and fresh, not greasy like most places where u walk out smelling like tacos. The guac is the best we ever had with real chunks of avocado and the I really like the selection of beer. By wife likes to get the non alcoholic drinks sheâs a huge fan of the pineapple crush. Last time I came they had tres leches cake and that hit the spot.
Tacos were OK. Nothing wrong with them, but nothing to write home about either. For the price, I would expect something better. Drinks were OK too. Very small ice cubes they use don't leave much room for the drink itself. I would expect more from drink too. Overall we didn't regret going there, but there are many places in the area with better food and higher value. I wish them well, but unlikely they possibly can survive for long.

The food was terrific and the margaritas were good!! I Really liked it, but the service is terrible. I saw this in prior reviews, but not better. If you go, order early and often. I will be getting take out ad having a drink when picking up.
We had a great casual but delicious dinner! The food was fresh and flavorful. The drinks were all fresh squeezed juices and were wonderful. The service was friendly, prompt and attentive. We love this place!

I have been to Taco Shack a few times and have never been disappointed. It is consistently good.
