We have been here a few times and always had a good time but it may be under new management and this experience was not so good. It started as soon as we arrived, two of us didn’t have face masks so were unsure whether to go home and get them or just go home. Whilst we were discussing, we were met at the door by a member of staff who quite abruptly asked what the problem was, we explained the situation and were simply told that staff had to wear masks so we did as well. Long time I didn 't visit Black Horse pub on canal. Really hard day at work and no even time to make a shopping for my dinner. I order the uber and arrive at Black Horse pub couple of minutes later. Nothing change... Local pub with good atmosphere. I have ordered Owton 's dry aged 10oz rump steak medium. I inform person who tuck the order not to rush and give a proper resting for a steak . After 17 minutes I recieved my dinner. Tough and overcooked, almost well done. Booked a lunchtime table for 5. Elderly MIL who couldn’t manage stairs which meant we ate downstairs near the garden entrance which was fine. Nice, friendly staff. Very limited menu, food very average. Fish batter was overcooked and inedible. We’ve eaten here before and had a lovely meal, but sadly not today. pub was empty tbh, so there really isn’t any excuse for such poor offerings.
Been going to this place for years now mostly in summer due to its lovely setting along The Grand Union Canal . Went on Sat for the first time since the Pandemic to celebrate my birthday The staff were nice and we had a good time,but the prices are outrageous ,double Rum And Coke £8 !. Will only be going once a year from now on which is a shame.

Visited last night having booked a table for 8 people. Amazing service from the staff really couldn’t thank the waiting staff enough for their service and welcoming approach. Wish I knew the two staffs names young lady and young man serving upstairs as they were great. We will be back again
Fabulous Sunday lunch; the best pub meal I've had for ages. Great location by the canal, very good meat (turkey and beef) with all the trimmings. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream also hit the spot. Helpful and friendly staff. Very highly recommended.
Absolutely well run considering this difficult time. Signage well put out. Easy and enjoyable to have a good catch up with friends. Well done to the staff working so hard under these weird times. Always polite and smiling.
Food was a disappointment.Had fish chips.Served on a cold plate was barely warm.Batter on fish was burnt.People two tables away were swearing loudly enough to be intrusive.Sadly we will not be returning.

Decent and moderately priced drinks, not sure about food bir the menu looked good. Plenty of seating space both in- and outdoors, with the garden being particularly lovely.
We regularly order their Cod Chips they have always been nicely cooked beautifully flavoured. Very generous portions fried in Healthy Oil. Never disappointed. Johnney
