Staying in Halifax for a few nights. For fun, we took the Dartmouth Ferry over from the bottom of George's Street in Halifax. For $2.50, you get a nice view of the harbor and skyline on the way over to go along with your anticipation of this delicious meal. We had the haddock and the smoked pork chop and both were excellent. Great service, nice but simple wine and brew selection, nice atmosphere (maybe a tad loud, but still nice). We highly recommend this as a nice cross-water adventure for any Halifax visitors.
What a treat! Fantastic atmosphere with service focused and knowledgable staff. The spotless, open kitchen proudly displays team work that makes his place so special. These folks love to cook and you can taste it. The mixed drinks were delicious and the wine list excellent. We had haddock, lobster spaghetti, and a burger followed by perfect desserts. There is no doubt that this is the best restaurant in Dartmouth. I will return without hesitation every time I visit home.
This is our third try at the Canteen on Portland. We have really enjoyed every experience. The restaurant is very quaint and the staff very friendly and professional. The food is outstanding, especially the burger. Mix of pork and beef patty with egg and zingy sauce. We also enjoyed the pasta dishes and the lobster roll. Great local brews as well to enjoy. A real good find in Dartmouth. Highly recommend.
We went to the Canteen for the first time for brunch. Being Saturday, it was just a limited brunch menu with 5-6 choices. The burrito bowl was very good and I tried the French toast which was outstanding!The restaurant is open and nicely decorated. The staff are awesome and the prices are very good for too both food. I look forward to the next visit to the area to try the regular menu!
This lovely cafe was recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. My son loved his "crobster" sandwich anfpnd my jerk chicken and mango slaw was great. My daughter had the fish sand. It was grilled and tasted good but was difficult for her to manage and kept falling apart. Good service and just a few doors down from the Dartmouth Ferry terminal!
I have eaten there several times. Each time I have enjoyed the food. It is creative and quite tasty. My only negative comments would be that I find it a tad noisy and I would prefer to eat off of a glass place rather than a tray with a paper on it. All in all it is quite good.
Easily accessible with parking nearby, plain but interesting decor, good food and good service. With all tables occupied, the noise level for someone like me with slight hearing impediment made conversations with my friend challenging. But I'll try again on a weeknight!
Tasty sandwiches, salads and soupI had a Black Forest ham and havarti sandwich with a broccoli salad. Yum!The covered patio would be a great place to hang out in the heat or rain. It could also be a great place for a small reception
This place is fantastic, the chefs creations are absolutely delicious and creative. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Dartmouth or Halifax
