If a cosy, neighbourhood cafe had a definition, it would be The Counter in Hawthorn. Directly across the road from Auburn Station, The Counter is a lovely quick stop for a light bit of breakfast and coffee, or a delicious brekkie catch up in their outdoor courtyard in the back with plenty of greenery dotted around you. The owner, Georgia, is passionate about her cafe and so welcoming, wishing for nothing but to share her small piece of suburban Melbourne brunch with customers – and that is no wonder The Counter brings is teeming with locals.
Thank you so much to The Counter for providing such a Fantastic Cake for our Sons 21st Birthday. It was simply to die for It was moist and utterly delicious and they went out of their way to deliver it across the road to the Auburn Hotel for our Special Function. Really nice to see see local businesses working together to make it happen. Couldn't have been happier Many Thanks !!
An offering of decadent treats made with love and care.....this crew really know how to not only bake; but make you feel part of the Counter Family...Michelle and Justine along with their wonderful team are the best neighbors I could ask for!! Aside from the fact the food is sublime!!

Best coffee in Auburn Village and possibly the best sausage rolls in Australia! This place is a must visit for good food and friendly service. I like the plywood shelving unit on the wall too.
Great service from this neighbourhood cafe, especially since we came in with two little kids - they couldn't be more helpful.
The only thing better than the coffee here are the super sweet people who work here. This is my Melbourne home coffee joint.
