My wife and I are long time Derby Customers. 30+ years). The past 2 times we have been in we have had problems. The second to last time we had the Tomahawk Steak for a celebratory dinner. The meat was barely warm and the sides were room temperature. Anyone can have a bad doy so we wrote it off to having a bad day. All the other times we had been in during the past 30 years, it has been great. Last hight we came in for our 40th Wedding Anniversary. My wife ordered the Derby Delite with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Both were room temperature. Very disappionting. They did take it off the bill, but that's not the idea of a celebration. Two times in a row and we're having doubts about going back which...
Been meaning to try The Derby for a while. It's local to us but never seemed to remember it. However, for a recent special occasion, we made reservations and mentioned the occasion. They gave us a great table and congratulated us on the occasion. From maitre-D to the server, all were friendly. The filet mignon was superb, and easily as good as Morton's where I've eaten many times. Even the valet parking was efficient. We'll be back for our next special meal.
One of the gems in the San Gabriel Valley area (Acadia). So much history in this restaurant, yet the décor is new and clean, but keeping with the 1930's and 1940's feel and ambiance. This steakhouse is the best in the area, hands down.
This is a absolutely old school Dining Experience that is so welcomed that we've been going there for years and will always be one of our favorites. Dependable and always so much fun to dine there.
The restaurant was very well presented. We weren’t greeted very warmly. The starters were good. The steak was undercooked and the lamb was cold. A $325 meal I expected better.
It was our first time experience. We wish it was opened everyday for lunch just to avoid traffic. We will be back. Our server Johnny was awesome.
The booths in the George Wolfe Room are away from the noisy open area but near the bar noise we still like it in that corner of the restaurant.
Service and food were excellent, unfortunately the noise level is too loud to have an enjoyable conversation
