My wife surprised me with a beautiful weekend getaway for my birthday. We came across this outstanding restaurant, and had a breakfast you won't believe. The service was great and the food was excellent, with a glass of wine. If you’re in the area you must go to enjoy the experience. We'll visit again , garentee. We had a fantastic lunch at the Grit Counter! John was incredible! I had the pimento cheese with their smoked jalapeño sauce and the fresh, local grilled shrimp. It was impressive! Today, "The Grit Counter" was a lovely spot for low country cuisine with quick service. The shrimp and grits came in a generous bowl and made for a hearty meal. The sweet tea was delightful, especially served alongside their lemonade. I observed that other diners ordered lunch, and all the plates looked absolutely delicious.
Amazing meal. Fresh and delicious! Portions are of good size. Thank you for a great meal! I had the byob with smoked tomato grits, collard greens, corn and scallions. Also had fried green tomatoes. This meal was very satisfying.

This is a hidden gem. If you dont lije grits there are other options. The burger looks wonderful. It a quaint spot. The flavors blended well.
