After a day walking around Niagara Falls, 16 hikers went to The Old Winery to have dinner at 5 pm. We had 3 tables and my table ordered our drinks and food at the same time. While the other 2 tables had appetizers. Our food came first and I enjoyed a Chardonnay pizza that had ingredients of garlic béchamel, roasted chicken, sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onion & truffle oil. The pizza was flat and oven baked. I enjoyed both the pizza and the bread that was served. We added olive oil plus balsamic vinegar on to a plate then placed the slice of bread on to it. Delicious!
We dropped in for dinner Tuesday August 22,2017We had the meatball appetizer and the veal parmigiana and the arugula salad and the white pizza called Sauvignon Blanch. My husband ate the meatballs and the veal Parm. He came down with severe food poisoning (ecoli) 12 hours later. He attended 2 doctor offices. He is now on antibiotics and pain relievers. He is in extreme pain and unable to work. He is bedridden. This restaurant has always been inconsistent with food quality. It has been a nightmare since dining at this restaurant.
We dine here often as the location is convenient - not in the old town and no worries about parking.When friends visit, this is our restaurant of choice because the food is always tasty and the price is reasonable, not easy in NOTL. I had the thin-sized pizza and took home several pieces. The salads were great as was the craft beer from local brew-masters! The service is always efficient and friendly.
Went there with a large group on a Sunday evening. The service was very poor. The food was OK, there were some interesting and enjoyable dishes. They were out(at 7PM) of the house fish special. The Gazpacho appetizer I had, I can make one much better. Also, it was served lukewarm. The wine list was restricted to Niagara wines. It was not inexpensive. I fail to see what the fuss is about.
The food was delicious, the service was quick and friendly. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Lots of parking available. You can rent the downstairs for a private function. The quirkiest part was a speaker playing Italian lessons in the bathroom rather than playing music. So at least if I need to buy two single train tickets to Verona, I'm prepared.
We stopped for lunch on our way out of town. Amazing thin crust pizza and a chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. Fast service and in spite of being on a busy road, the patio is out back surrounded by trees, so very nice.
Had an excellent dinner on the patio. The 3 course set menu for the night for 35.00 was excellent value. Ordered the trout, beet salad, and ricotta cheesecake.A la carte ordered the penne shrimp dish. Also very tasty.
A true standard with service and quality. An easy stop on your way into Niagara on the Lake. Wood oven pizza is excellent. Thin crispy crust and plentiful toppings. Meatball appetizer is a nice size and delish!
Whenever we are on Niagara on the lake this is a great go-to restaurant with amazing pizza and pasta! Great service and reasonable prices. We'll be back!
