Came here with my buddy a few days ago to get breakfast and I was happy with what I got. Now, to preface this, I 've never had a traditional English breakfast but from what I can tell this place has got it down. From the beans, back bacon, and banger they were all fantastic. The tea we got was also great and complemented the meal perfectly. Only downside for me was the fried bread, but that 's just personal preference and everything else was great so it did not dampen my experience at all. The service was also great and friendly! Highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to try English food.
I really enjoyed my whole culinary experience here! A clear good recommendation for anyone interested in British cuisine. The restaurant reflects real British pubs. The decorations could be a bit exaggerated compared to how a pub could look overseas, but it must be if it wants to bring Britain to America. I love English food so I was so excited to taste the dishes and compare the taste I remembered food tasting when I lived abroad. I'm glad to say that I wasn't disappointed. I'm excited to finally go back and try more dishes.
I know it doesn't look like much outside, but if you're looking for a British pub with good food and excellent service... this is your place. Our server Laura (she was great) took time to explain what was and was super friendly. The food came out quickly and everything was cooked properly. The only drawback on the food....it is a small gland (but nothing a little salt and pepper not repaired) and yes.... it is a little diver....but if you don't give it, I think you are missing.
We arrived for a few drinks and were pleasantly surprised to find live music and a cool outdoor seating area. The inner bar is dark and cramped like a good British pub should be, but with a larger group there was not much space. The hostess recommended the outdoor seat, and it was perfect. We'll be back to dinner soon. There are reserved parking spaces on the street, but I did not notice any ramp or van parking.
We love the old ship! It's always a good time and good food when we go. I've been going for 20 years and love to bring my husband. It is originally from England, and it enjoys the feeling at home with traditional English drinks and food. You can't go wrong with everything you order. Leave space for dessert and get the toffe pudding. Friendly staff and many repeat customers. We're always coming.
Went with some family to this location as the Santa Ana restaurant is no longer : We were pleasantly surprised with a better feel of an old English pub, as this establishment is considerably smaller than the other location was. Food and beer as usual good. Service was top notch. The place was hopping and noisy as is typical of the pub atmosphere on a busy night.
Nice patio in rear with English bus and friendly service. Inside is quaint and decorated with many photos- I am fond of the one of the Queen and Prince Charles pouring beer. When heading to the bathroom you can also brush up on your knots with some framed examples of common sailors knots.
Without exaggeration, the most proper fish in chips in all of the golden state. I used to think Royal Britannia in Las Vegas had good fish and chips...no. All the grub found in this tavern is quite splendid and proper. Would recommend!
The atmosphere and ambience are their point of sale. Feels like a real British pub. I wish they would bring the Beef Wellingtons back. Would definitely revise.
