Last thursday the 4th may. we arrived at 7.30pm a young waiter handed us menu,s at amout 7.40, we ordered bread etc straight away and the main course at 7.45.She told us that what we ordered will take 20mins extra,we said that fine.At 8.30 we asked very nicely what with our meals ,she said they are being plated now .At 8.50 we received our meals . 2 people were happy ,the rack of lamb was over cooked and all veggies were cold ..As soon as we put our cutlery down ,the rude owner came to our table and handed me the bill saying"you wanted the bill now! right" she then turned and walked away,No offer of sweels or coffee etc. (very bad form !
Excellent service, and the best oysters kilpatrick around...We came here with a group. The place is warm and inviting, has a good vibe. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The steak was a massive hit... I had mushroom risotto which was so delicious, and another big big tick was the duck. And luckily we had a little bit of room for desserts because they were all so delicious. Another reason we will be back again is we could take our own wine, which we all like to do. So for what we ate, the quantity and quality, the service this is a place I would highly recommend.
Olive tree has been our "goto" place for family and friends to celebrate birthdays and special occassions for over 30 years. Food quality and service is always excellent and they have no issues handling large groups. We often try other places, but always come back to olive Tree for when in doubt. We always leave satisfied. Parking on Park street can be a little tricky, but there are plenty of side streets to find a space. Overall, we have never had an issue visiting the olive tree and we usually visit 2-3 times a year.
Been numerous time and never been disappointed. Latest, went as a party of 4 for lunch, started with herb bread, ladies had duck risotto, us guys had rack of lamb. Food was plentiful and beautifully cooked so much so that desserts were not required. Wine selection and. Pricing very reasonable, ambience and staffing really good. This is a homely style restaurant, not pretentious, offering fine quality food very well priced. Recommended definitely.

As a visitor to Melbourne, the decor was quite a flashback , however the quality of the excellent service and the magnificent meals was pleasantly surprising. The waiters service was exceptionally good without being 'snooty' . The steaks were cooked perfectly, the sauces were tasty and delicious , the portions were generous and I highly recommend the continental cheesecake for dessert. A great experience , I would highly recommend.
We went to The Olive Tree for lunch, and it was a nice experience. Cozy environment, and good food. Kind service.Although I have not found the lamb as tasty as expected, the rest of the group were very pleased with their choices. Price is reasonable.Will try it again, certainly.
The bugs they served were bad. I was not intending to cause an issue, but sent the bugs back and received argument from the Chef. In short, he made quite a spectacle in front of everyone insulting me and yelling at me. Avoid this place, it's soon to close.
Great local that has met the test of time. Good menu and friendly service. Great traditional dishes and some of the best steaks in Melbourne. Schnitzels are also tops! Good portions and reasonable prices.

A casual dinner for 4 friends, managed to get a same day reservation. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Main portions were large and reasonably priced. Decor was quirky and restaurant was busy.
This was walking distance from Quest on Dorcas. Inside decor isn't great but food is. Reasonably priced and tasty would go back.
