This restaurant deserves 10 stars! Amy provided exceptional service and the food was incredible. The fried green tomatoes wrap and tomato basil soup were fantastic. I also enjoyed a loaded potato and a delicious side salad. I will definitely be returning. On a recent visit to celebrate our 51st Wedding Anniversary, the food was just as great. I tried the pimento burger and we also had a blue cheese burger and the Wayne burger. The fried green tomatoes were outstanding and all burgers were cooked perfectly. We ended our meal with the White Chocolate cheesecake, which was wonderfully creamy and beautifully presented. It was so good that we devoured it before we could even take a picture.
I do not frequently visit Waynesboro, but after having done business with the River Burger Bar for over a year, I felt it was necessary to make a special trip. Although it may appear to be just a regular bar at first glance, the kitchen is actually producing some incredibly delicious food. I have only positive things to say about our dining experience. Every dish we ordered was prepared almost perfectly. The burger I had was definitely one of the best I have had in a while. Needless to say, we will have to come up with more excuses to return to Waynesboro in the future.
Who charges $7 for a side of exactly 7 onion rings. Portions are too small, even the burger..!! (3.5 ?/5) Other than that, River is a small, cozy place with very good food and service. The bartender and waitress were so friendly. If this was in my place, I'd be coming regularly. The prices were fine, but the portion size is so less. A hungry heavy eater might want 2 burgers to fill. Beer collection was okay but cocktails seemed nice. PS: that picture in bathroom was hilarious.. ????????
Are you kidding me? A cool place with excellent staff, excellent food, AND excellent beer?? Throw in pretty decent prices and you've got a Waynesboro Winner! Yes, it is that good. We went after enjoying the Grand Caverns, up the road in Grottoes (check that out, too! We rolled in after temps in the 90s already required a cold beer and hot burger. We got both and loved them! I wish they stayed open a bit later. We didn't arrive until 7 they close at 8 on Mondays. My family of 3 visited this place for the 1st time yesterday evening the food was delicious. My hubby opted for the Western burger w/onion rings, our daughter ordered The Sundrop I ordered The Fun Guy. Everything was delicious! The atmosphere was cozy with 2 tvs to watch, fast service, decent drink menu and good music.
My first time eating here and I 'm thoroughly impressed with the quality of food and service. I would most definitely recommend The River to anyone who wants a quality burger, quality service, and a cozy atmosphere. The burger in the photo was the Sun Drop . However, I must say that I preferred the fries over their house chips.
Despite a widespread power outage, we ventured over the mountain and stumbled upon this lovely restaurant by the river. The food was delicious, the staff were extremely friendly, and the atmosphere was great. It was one of the best burgers we've had in a long time. We will definitely be returning in the future.

I met some friends at this restaurant for dinner between JMU and UVA. It was truly amazing. The atmosphere and service were excellent in a trendy downtown area in Waynesboro. The food was absolutely delicious. It was simple, fresh, and expertly prepared.
