Right on the water looking at the boats in the harbor. Not high end as far as furniture or decor is concerned. The halibut was cooked okay and is somewhat small, 6 oz maybe, and comes with some flavored rice and some greens on top. No bread, no salad, no soup,, etc with the meal just $39 (June 2023) for the little fish and a scoop of rice. If you want bread, or soup, or salad or anything besides water you pay for it. Everything added on is about $9 to $15 extra per item. Thus, very pricy and yet skimpy on the food. Seemed clean. Fun view. Best for rich people that are not very hungry.
I used to love this place and always looked forward to eating at The Wheel House. What a total disappointment it is now. I have no idea what happened but whatever it is, isn’t doing the place any favors.The Limited menu was a surprise, and they were out of most things. The food that was available was terrible poorly cooked and even worse quality, and specially for 45+ a person.There were no familiar faces, the bartender was a bit snarky, and the atmosphere was definitely tense.What sad news to learn that the once best place to eat in Valdez is now the worst.

We were promptly seated. The place was busy. The food was great and they weren 't skimpy with the portions! I had the steak cheese w/ onion rings. You could choose without an up charge what fries you wanted! Service was good and if we 're ever in Valdez again, we 'll be back!
This places looked so good but when we got there they couldn’t take our order because wifi was down and they couldn’t accommodate late in the evening. The waiter was phenomenal though and gave us some fries and mozzarella sticks when we left.
