When I arrived in Valdez last August, I was shocked to find the Restaurant missing. We spent countless hours there, indulging ourselves every year during the Silver Salmon run. Unfortunately, that tradition was shattered this past August. The Totem Benedict had always been a favorite of mine—a delightful combination of a biscuit, bacon, and a perfectly poached egg with a bright, golden yolk that oozed out as you cut into it. For the Alaskan King Crab, there were three choices. You could opt for the buffet, which I believe was around $125, a 1 lb portion for approximately $26, or a 1/2 lb portion for about $16. We chose the 1/2 lb to share among three of us, and it was just enough to give us a taste. However, it was definitely just one leg. They cooked it perfectly and served it with a dish of warm butter—absolutely YUM. One of our friends ordered the red salmon, which was very tasty and came with a nice assortment of vegetables. The Saltwater Shrimp Sauté was decent; the shrimp were fresh but smaller than we had anticipated, appearing more like regular shrimp. They did devein them properly, and they were served...
This place is real Valdez, and has been around for years. We were there for lunch again in June. My salmon was perfectly prepared, and my salad was fresh, large, and delicious, unlike the salad in many Alaska restaurants. Pricing is reasonable(for Alaska). Server was very pleasant. Lots of locals, so you know it's a good value. Cleanest ladies room in town. Interesting local crafts on display. We'll be back on our next trip to Valdez.
Really really nice hotel, it's a little expensive but when you're in Alaska during tourist season i guess that's expected. We loved it, we got a family suite and it was nice, comfortable and pleasant. I had their grilled halibut, baked potato and veggies. The halibut was 10oz and although it lacked grill marks it tasted heavenly. It had garlic and herbs on it. Amazing. The rest was whatever, I was all about the halibut. My husband had the chicken fried steak, he said it was good. Not as good as my halibut though.
We ate here on my first night after moving to Valdez. The next month it had a fire and has been closed ever since. Pretty sad about that, but word on the street is that they're building a new hotel... WITH AN INDOOR POOL! I hope they bring the restaurant back too, we need all the options we can get here in Valdez.
This brand new hotel features incredibly comfortable rooms and beds. The previous establishment was torn down and rebuilt, and it truly provides one of the best accommodations and restful nights during our entire Alaska vacation. We were very impressed!

The **** Mary was okay. Go to Roma for a good ****. the crab legs here were good, I had a salad and it had some brown lettuce. Some of the other people in our group had fettuccine and they said it was great.
