One of the best jerk spots around, without a doubt! I used to drive all the way to Maywood to get their food, but now they have a bigger and better location, which is fantastic. The portions are generous, the ingredients are high quality, and the packaging is excellent. The jerk catfish is my all-time favorite dish, but if you're a fan of white meat, this is definitely the place for you—always fresh and juicy! Their mac and cheese is also amazing. This place will always be my go-to spot; very few places can compete!
Horrible HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE! I purchased Catfish meal and was given a chicken meal. Once I got to work and opened my meal and discovered it was the wrong order.. I called and called with no answer! I go in next day to get a refund or the fish that I paid for and owner told me..its not on them bc I should've have brought the food back up there. I told her I had to work past the time they closed and she told me to get her store bc she doesn't care. I will never support this place again!
This restaurant serves the best food! I've been ordering from here since it’s located on 1st Avenue in Maywood. Even though it’s a bit farther away, it’s the only place I go to. The fried catfish is incredibly tasty, as are the beef and chicken dishes. Andrew, the owner, is always pleasant and friendly, and the office worker has become a great friend of mine. I highly recommend this place!
The food here is consistently good. It's hard to find good Jamaican food in the suburbs unless it's home cooked. This is their new location and I willingly traveled from the West Suburbs for the food. When you come during the day, you can smell and see that they're making the jerk chicken in the back. So authentic, good and not expensive.

I ordered half a white jerk chicken, jerk catfish, and some sides, and everything was delicious! The meals were carefully prepared, beautifully presented, and well-packaged. This was my first time trying it, and I highly recommend it. I will definitely be ordering again!
I've been a regular at this restaurant for over 15 years. Sadly, as I write this review, they are currently closed, and I really hope they reopen soon. The food has always been consistently good. This is my top choice for Jamaican cuisine in the Chicagoland area.

Called several times on different open days and never got through. The Sign out front could be brighter and bigger to be able to see. Counter service was just a notch above rude. Not coming back.

This restaurant is a true hidden treasure. The food is amazing, and the staff is both attentive and well-informed. I’m already looking forward to returning to explore more of the menu.
I have not had any Jamaican food better than Tropical Times! Any time I am in Chicago it is a must that I go there.
