Twisted Pig has the charm of a neighborhood hangout with a diverse mixed crowd , pool tables TVs ,as well as a juiced up jukebox with a good play list .Food is ok some things simply need better seasoning portions are good size .Service is great !! *Summer the waitress/ Bartender was nice friendly had the Brisket dip sandwich not bad good bread but was missing something with a side of homemade mash potatoes needed salt but nice consistency. Sorta outside the box BBQ place. Variety on the menu. Got the pulled pork. The pork is legit. Three kinds of sauce including North Carolina vinegar. The slaw was a very different flavor. They also had pickled onion on the plate as an extra. Very different and pickly. Sweet with some sort of odd taste I couldn't place. The bad. No chicken that day. No Brunswick stew. Said it was seasonal on the menu. Waitress said it was no longer going to be carried. Sad. Moved to here from Georgia and keep looking for some good stew. Guess I'll have to keep looking.
I went for the first time to the **** Mary/Mimosa brunch and it was an awesome experience. Ms. Deb was our hostess and she was awesome as usual and showed us everything that we needed to do. They have a huge variety of fixings to make your perfect **** Mary or Mimosa also the make your own biscuit bar was delicious. The owner (I believe) was super helpful with this and gave me a portion of food that I don’t think anyone could complain about lol. The food- amazing! The service- great! The drinks- boozy and delicious! This place is the perfect mix between a bbq joint and bar. I wasn?t expecting how great the brisket is. The drinks are loaded and staff are wonderful and helpful. The location of this shop may be its only downfall in my opinion, but whoever decorated put their heart into it. This is not a high class place, but it?s perfect for your lunch or dinner needs. Please check them out next time you?re feeling hungry or thirsty
We visited The Wounded Pig as a group, and it's a charming little hole-in-the-wall. The staff was fantastic, and our food arrived quickly. They have a bar and billiard tables, as well as outdoor seating for smokers. As a barbecue lover, I have to say that everyone at the table agreed the food was just average—not something I would write home about. Personally, I really enjoyed the potato skins and hush puppies, but the brisket was dry and the dishes could have used more seasoning.
The server was excellent, but if you're going to call yourself a smokehouse, you really should be smoking your own food. I ordered the sampler and was disappointed with everything on the plate. If you enjoy bar food, then this place might be for you; however, if you're looking for genuinely smoked meat, I recommend finding another spot. Here's a picture of what I was served.
Had a marvelous time at lunch checking out this hidden gem. I was welcomed as I walked in. The brisket French dip was delicious. The bread had the texture of homemade, the meat was lean and flavorful and I ate the whole thing. Dipped up all the au jus. Also ate all the beer-battered onion rings. Legit my new favorite place. Food is excellent, fully-stocked bar and a great ?roadside? atmosphere. A must stop if you?re a BBQ aficionado and near Portsmouth. Pro tip: if you?re out riding around on your bikes with your buddies, this is the kind of place you?ll want to hit.
