Very simple little cafe with good food obviously made in the premises. While the food is good Some of the flavours appear to be dumbed down for the perceived local palette. The fish sauce dip for the spring rolls was a little dull, two words that should never be in the same sentence. The rolls were delish, but would have been a lot better with a true fish sauce dip. The peking duck was very good and as one would hope it to be. I had the vegetable street rice. The portion was huge and tasty. We tried this place for the first time on Mothers Day for lunch and were very pleasantly surprised. We have been to Vietnam many times so we know what to expect and this place didn't disappoint us - it was not half-Vietnamese half Chinese like many so-called Vietnamese restaurants. We had spring rolls, rice paper rolls, duck pancakes (excellent), pork soup and rice noodle salad. Ended with Vietnamese coffee and deep fried ice cream. I love this place. The food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. You can’t beat their lunch specials for a good feed and their vegetarian options are wonderful and never lacking for flavour. My partner and I have tried most things on the menu since we keep coming back time and again. <br/ <br/ For lunch, their Banh mi or rice paper roll lunch special is my favourite. It’s so generous that I always share with a friend, but be warned that they do sell out of these some days (it’s VERY popular) so get in early! <br/ <br/ For dinner, you can’t beat their rice noodle salads or pho. Generous portions, great prices and the freshest ingredients. Totally recommend!!!
We were there for a quick lunch takeaway and wished we had time to sample some of the great sounding menu items and drinks - from delicious spring rolls to an assortment of rice raper rolls, fermented vegetables, and duck pancakes. You can also try wrapping your own rice paper rolls at the table which can be a great conversation item. We opted for chicken, prawn and tofu rice paper rolls with sweet chilli sauce to takeaway - under $20!. They were filled with noodles, mint and, carrot and the meat/tofu. Second visit to this new restaurant in Sandgate, and I was a little disappointed. I ordered the chicken soup. The flavour was very bland. I expected delicious pieces of soft poached chicken meat, instead there was flavourless grey meat that looked and tasted more like pork. The waiters were fast to serve, but failed to take away our empty bowls when we finished. The restaurant was busy with patrons but lacked atmosphere. There is no music or ambiance at all. So much more could be done to make the place more interesting, especially with those high ceilings. And definitely add music!!
We had read there was an exciting new Vietnamese restaurant opening up around Sandgate so we drove there one night to try it with our friends.All 4 of us were pretty disappointed in the quality of the food.The customer service was good and the staff were friendly but that doesn't make up for the lack of taste in the Pho. It was very watered down and improvements must be made.Pho should taste like it does at a shop called "Pho Ever" in Banyo.On top of that, the prices of the dishes were way too overpriced!
We didn't know what to expect and we're surprised by our experience. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. The staff were young and trying hard to please but we felt that the needed some extra training - being an employer ourselves for quite a few staff we recognised that they tried hard but lacked experience. But saying that, our meals were absolutely delicious. The blend of tastes left us all wanting to return. Our food was fresh and very tasty. The price of the generous portions was very good value.
Came here with friends who have raved about the place. Unfortunately they didn't warn us about the portions and we ordered far too much. Everything was so good it wasn't a hardship to clear the plates. The clue is in the name, simple and unpretentious décor and food. The kids enjoyed making their own rice paper rolls and the street rice was sublime. This fabulous small town with heritage and groove has quickly adopted Viet street eat as one of its latest cultural additions. The owners son and other students from nearby high school work here to serve you delicious Vietnamese food. I love living here and having a great Pho' down the road makes it even better. From humble beginnings aim sure even better things will come.
