The famous Washington DC airport is actually located in Virginia, in the larger DC metro area. DC actually has three airports. Reagan National Airport, closer to downtown (but technically in Virginia), IAD and BWI Airport, is located about an hour from DC in Baltimore, MD. Dulles Airport has recently been massively renovated (about 5 years) and has since been an excellent showcase of chic architecture, sophisticated logistics and convenience. The long shuttles from the airport to the terminals have now been replaced by lean trains (even if for some reason the descending passengers are still forced to take the shuttles). One of my favorite airports in the world! It's incredibly efficient, clean, and easy to navigate. The staff and crew are very accommodating, and the service is excellent. Security checks are thorough, and the cleanliness is impressive; the bathrooms and washing facilities are regularly maintained. During this trip, I was at D-Gate. I don't believe there are any lounges here, but the waiting areas are convenient and easy to locate. I particularly love their water fountain, which shows how many plastic bottles you save by reusing or using a tumbler. It’s always nice to be here!
It's a nice airport, especially when you’re going through security. The baggage claim and ticketing areas feel a bit outdated, reminiscent of the 1960s. However, once you take the mile-long ride on the train to the gates, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. There are numerous dining options as well as shops for trendy souvenirs and travel essentials. The B-Terminal even features a children's playground next to restaurants like Kitchenerfil and Wendy's. Seating options are abundant, as long as everything is operating smoothly.
Many pros and cons to this airport. Main reason to come here is it’s the closest international airport to Washington, DC. Relatively clean and nice. The monster truck buses as I call them are interesting to say the least. Trains take you to different terminals. Dedicated highway to get here is nice, but parking is expensive and hard to find a spot. Giant main terminal looks cool from inside and outside.

This is a fantastic spot to kick off your holiday journey. However, like any popular airport, it can get quite busy and congested during weekends and holidays. Don't let that deter you from your travel plans! Make sure to arrive early as parking fills up quickly, and expect slow traffic when departing and arriving.
One of my favorite airports in USA. It has little advertising, minimal to none flashing LED signs. It is almost a quiet and peaceful walk to your gate and taking the train compared to standard airports. It is visually appealing as well. Easy entrance and exit to and from the airport.
Convenient airport and easy to navigate through. So many destinations, good amenities and clean facility. Good number of dining shops and other stores in the terminal.
