The chef don’t know how to make egg fried rice. Egg fried rice is the most basic dish but also hardest to master. Rice needs to be precooked and left out either over night or early in the morning and leave in fridge. Right after cooking rice needs to be tumbled and mixed to let out excess water vapour. The fried rice here is hard, and not tender. That means the chef either the cooked it without adding enough water or kept it in freezer instead of refrigerator to speed up the process. And also too oily, means the Woking skill is not there. Long story short, fried rice not up to standard. May be slightly better than microwaved fried rice. Heard about this place and was keen to give it a try. Very authentic Vietnamese food, service was friendly and there is a spacious eating area. I tried the shark fin soup, soft shell crab and the BBQ duck with rice. It was all really fresh and high quality, I loved it all. The crab was especially tasty as was the duck. The marinated roast duck dish is very delicious. Better than the roast duck restaurants in Saigon I've eaten at. Convenient location, restaurant space is not large but warm, always crowded. I ordered a vermicelli dish and got charged $18 when the menu states $14. The serving was not much more than a kids size bowl and not much meat at all and without shrimp paste. The salt and pepper flounder was cooked to perfection with a good spice coating that was crispy but not overdone. The service and prices were average. The restaurant offers a large selection of dishes and has a typical decor for this type of establishment.
