Baaia - Tisch resevieren

Having read such glowing reviews we paid Baaia a visit. Avoiding the hot sun we chose a table in the shade. A middle-aged staff member came and began removing the awning, leaving us sitting in direct sunlight. My son politely asked if some sun protection could be maintained. We were actually stunned when the woman snapped, she had to protect her awning from the wind, rolled her eyes and walked away! Fair enough, protecting an awning from wind may have been the woman's priority but goodness, there is a way of speaking to people, whereby your needs can be expressed without being rude. Upon reviewing the breakfast menu I decided to come here with some friends this weekend. Between the four of us we tried juices, 3 breakfast meals and coffees. I had the Sicilian eggs and was very happy. The squid ink brioche was perhaps a little over toasted but all else, including softness of the egg and spicyness of the sauce was delicious. Another friend enjoyed the stuffed field mushrooms and yet another the croque Monsieur ( which I plan to return for)All in all an enjoyable meal, though a fair wait for a table for 4 ( weeks around 9.30-10) and I understand the need but order at the counter is not as ideal as having your order taken. Hey this is a great place to go and enjoy the location and a coffee and something tasty... I dont know if it is me being a little jaded with the cafe lifestyle we all enjoy but the fare to me seems to fall into the "Been there Ordered it Before" type of feeling... there are some offerings which are fresh and different which is fabulous .. BUT enough with only eggs and bacon for brekkie... or muesli and bit of yoghurt type of things... I am sure as it settles into the area it will provide a more varied menu month to month as the risk is always to do one thing to death and bore your regulars... but i will be back to support and hope it wants to keep its customers coming back for that new thing...

Quite a bust small cafe straight opposite the water. Ideal location with both inside and outside tables. Food was a little slow coming out but was well worth the wait. Staff were friendly but kept very busy.Great place to bring dogs for a morning coffee and family chat. All meals looked great even the kids pancakes with icecream . Dropped in for a quick coffee during a walk along shore. Thank goodness I was able to convince my friends to try instead of dougs!!! Coffee was amazing and Juices looked fab. Friendly quick service and I look forward to having brunch here soon.

What a lovely little café on the waterfront at Sandgate. Every thing we have had here has been spot on The staff are very efficient. Only trouble is it is so good it is hard to get a table sometimes.

Really nice food. Falafals were just right. Everything seems to be presented beautifully. Simple but very tasty. A bit of a contrast to the popular fish and chip shop next door.

Recently had breakfast here and this place has amazing food and great service. Located with a great view of the ocean as well. Highly recommend

Coffee shop and shopping all in one little cluster of shops, its a great little spot - add it to your list when visiting Sandgate. Love Baaia!
