I came to Café Gaia for brunch with a friend last weekend. We were lucky to get one of the last tables at about midday on a Saturday. We sat outside under the warmth of the heaters on a fresh winters morning. We were greeted by friendly staff who promptly brought out some water for us. After ordering coffees we perused the menu before ordering food. My long black was perfect, the right amount of hot water, smooth and great flavour. I ordered the Salmon Gravlax which was divine. Lot's of flavour and a great mix of texture and tastes on the pallet, something quite different. Went here for breakfast while staying in South Yarra. I ordered the scrambled eggs with bacon with sourdough toast. I also ordered a Banana Smoothie for a drink. The food was delicious, the eggs were cooked way differently (in a good way) than Sydney Cafes. The smoothie was delicious as well. The staff were very nice and the price was decent! I'll definitely come back one day
Great location with food to match. Delicious breakfast, served quickly and with great attitude. Coffee ok but could (should) be hotter. The breakfast I enjoyed was just fantastic ( see picture ) Jamon Serrano was totally delicious as was the Eggs Benedict a couple of days later. Tucked away in Avoca Street (just off Toorak Rd) South Yarra, Cafe Gaia serves up great variable treats for breakfast and lunch. This hip little cafe has indoor and outdoor (heated in winter) seating with friendly staff. I really like the breakfast menu and quietness compared to noisy Toorak Rd Cafes.Give it a whirl.
We went for lunch and were pleasantly surprised as the food was delicious. I had the Smashed Avocado with Beetroot cured Salmon, Poached Eggs & Beetroot Humus. It was delicious. I also tasted the Special Omlette that was very tasty tooThe coffee is also excellent.I will be going back there again.
A lovely cafe in South Yarra and is pet friendly! We were impressed with the coffee and the smashed avocado dish on toast was delicious! It can get quite noisy at times but the food is worth it. It's on the expensive end but worth a treat for oneself on the weekends.
