Made a reservation for a Friday around 1pm and waited about 10 min to get seated after checking in on time. Parking is abundant since it's in the Santa Anita mall. The inside is very spacious and clean. We ordered the string beans with garlic, spicy chicken wontons, Shanghai rice cakes, xiao long baos, and chocolate mochi buns with the sea salt cream. Everything came out hot and fresh and didn't take too long either and the waiter was very attentive. My favorites had to be the spicy wontons and chocolate mochi buns. I've been a loyal customer of Din Tai Fung for many years, and my go-to dishes include the cucumber salad, crab and pork xiao long bao, shrimp and pork spicy wontons, pork chop fried rice and string beans with garlic. Our love for the cucumber salad is so strong that we each order our own plate. However, I've noticed a decline in the quality of the cucumber salad over the past month. It seems there's been a change in the recipe or preparation, resulting in a dish that's now overly salty and missing its previous sweetness. I'm not sure if this issue is specific to this location. Until the original quality is restored, I won't be ordering the cucumber salad anymore.
loveee Din Tai Fung!! went on the waitlist and we were 42nd in line lol, but it honestly didn't take long to get seated, maybe like 30 minutes from the time I joined it. our waiter was attentive and nice. the place was busy AF on a Tuesday. but we ordered the sweet and sour pork ribs, shrimp and pork spicy wontons, and pork and crab xiao long bao. the sauce for the ribs was sooo tasty I couldn't stop eating literally just the sauce itself lol. the XLB were great and had a good amount of soup and delicious when paired with the black vinegar. the spicy wontons were honestly my fav because I hadn't had them from Din Tai Fung before!! always love this place! The food at Din Tai is all very good across the board. Love the veggies. The servers and wait staff always are respectful and help us out whenever we need suggestions or questions about the menu. And the seating and layout is comfy. Enough room and doesn't feel like you're too close to people
WOW!!!! Never a disappointment besides the wait but it's well worth it! Everything is so fresh and tasty but if you know Din Tai Fung, then you know that. A definate spot to check out if your in the area and have some time to wait around or get there early and avoid the wait all together.
Their dumplings are not as good as they used to be in the original Arcadia location. Their spicy noodle dish is great though. Waiting to get in is exhausting and it's become more and more corporate. I yearn for their original location.
