The ambiance is very nice, though so typical of trendy places: lots of random filament light bulbs hanging off a black ceiling, old wooden tables and high chairs, lots of decorations this could be anyhere in the world. The main courses were ok, though the fries were not very hot, and the meat was good but not excellent. The desserts were not that great. Besides the fact that we ordered a small mousse and were charged (and presumably served) a large one, the ice creams were very disappointing these were cheap flavorless ice creams, which is a bit of a rip off for 4.5CHF/scoop (most restaurants charge 3.5CHF for a high quality ice cream), and also not matching the photos on the menu that showe...
We ate in the hallo world last night in Baar. Although the food tasted good enough and the woman who served us first was friendly, the aftertaste of our visit was very bitter: The other waiter (which only arranged the payment) has added an additional CHF 4.50 to our invoices, behind our back and without our consent. Unfortunately, we didn't notice this after. Alarm bells should have ringed earlier because if we wanted to pay, he tried “scan” (contactless payment) our credit card with the display down. In retrospect, this was of course to avoid seeing the price difference. We have learned our lesson: ALWAYS check the total amount they charge on the payment terminal, but as a warning for other...
We had a team dinner for 10 people. I ordered a la carte. So it took some time to get food. But that is also a good sign. I'd be sceptical to get it in less than 10 minutes. For my special nutritional requirements, the staff and the kitchen are very academic. Excellent Salmorejo, fish dishes. Wine map is long and prices are not super high, as seen in Zurich. Decent Italian Primitivo in organic quality for 60 CHF. Very good Pinot Noir near train served by glasses. Very recommended place for a cozy lunch and dinner with delicious food and drinks.
Very nice environment and atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, but as I am allergic to artificial flavour enhancer, MSG, I only had one option as the kitchen was unsure if anything contained it. The fries were covered in MSG, as was the burger sauce had by a member of our party. The burger mix was also not able to be declared free of MSG. Shame that such poor kitchen decisions let an otherwise nice place down. The steak I had was very nice however.
