This was our last day in France (for this year) and we spent a day in Albi. I asked at the hotel a quiet restaurant with no tourists and good french food. They told us to go to La Viguiere d'Alby. Although Albi in the evening is very quiet town anyway, we were not convinced by the restaurant entrance if this was going to be a good place or not. If we had left, we would have made the biggest mistake ever. We spent 55 Euros in total (including the wine) and the food was excellent, so good that by London's standards, the way the food was cooked, presented and served it would be considered the top end of a dining out. We had dinner with a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) mid July. My starter salad (lettuce, maigret, gesiers, foie gras) was fairly simple but still ok. The main course (tuna) was cooked way too long, same for the main course of the children. My wife's food was fairly cold and cooked too long ...Desert was simple but ok.Service was very (!) slow. The children's ice cremes were mixed up and after that, also the bill was wrong.We believe they tried, but unfortunately, they did not succeed in preparing a decent meal.On the positive side: they were friendly to the children.
A previous reviewer referred to the warm welcome he received on a cold night. We couldn't agree more. We have just had a lovely meal in this restaurant on a very cold January evening. The warmth of the staff was matched by the warmth from the log fire and the food was delicious. We just happened on this restaurant and looked at other reviews on returning to our hotel. This was our first visit to Albi and we look forward to returning and eating at this restaurant again.
We were looking for a local cassoulet, the welcome and service was perfect. The cassoulet was just right, good ingredients and a perfect balance of flavours, we all enjoyed it and felt it was the best cassoulet we had tasted in France.The sweet course was just as good with the apple feuillantine, a lovely dish that just keeps giving. In all we had a lovely evening and will certainly remember this restaurant fondly.

What a place ! I've been in this restaurant 3 weeks ago and i really want to come back again.The menu was complete and sated every kind of taste.My girlfriend took a fresh fish and I took a "cassoulet". Both plates were delicious !!! I don't understand bad critics because this place is wonderful and very "cosy".I REALLY RECOMMEND IT !
We met the Viguiere after a TV report. We were not disappointed. 2 real cooks who like to exchange with customers and collect their sensations on the proposed kitchen. The products are seasonal, well prepared, well presented. 2 menus including a vegetarian and the same à la carte dishes. I strongly advise.
A delicious Saturday evening with friends with a friendly welcome, a festival of taste buds, and a peaceful and warm atmosphere. A huge culinary culture, you learn while enjoying exceptional dishes. Thanks, boys!
Albi a bit closed on a chilly Tuesday night so we chanced upon La Viguiere. The owners'welcome was as warm as the log fire in the lovely dining room. Food excellent; particularly recommend the andouillettes.

Ambience, service, wine list very good and food excellent. Several menus to choose from. Quality/price excellent. We go there regularly for dinner and are never disappointed.
