When I visit Melbourne, I usually stop by Gold Leaf for a Yum Cha lunch with family. For the value you are paying, the quality of the food and service is average. I understand the location of the restaurant is in a premium spot and this reflects in the pricing compared to other Yum Cha restaurants however this would be acceptable if the food and service was of high quality. The major downfall of Gold Leaf is inconsistency - there are times where my experience is amazing and times it is disappointing. GOLD LEAF comes with a great reputation but it was a major failure for Chinese New Year dinner. What should have been a marque night for this restaurant, it did not manage the pressure well. The service was sloppy, the wrong meals were brought to the table and the different courses where sometimes average and occasionally poor e.g. abalone liked a canned quality.Given the top dollar paid for Chinese New Year dinner, even though it is not a Public Holiday that demands a loading of staff salaries, this was a poor effort from GOLD LEAF
This Chinese Restaurant is very brightly liteNot sure if thats good or bad easy to see the menu though The staff were very nice but i think mostly speak Chinese I asked a question and it took two to answer but very friendly.Mist if the waiters are dress in a professional burgundy and gold uniforms while head waiters are in Black Suits The food was very tasty and there fried rice is almost as good as mine LOL A little more care could be taken when trimming there meat as i got some gristle in mineral

Evening a la carte meal had excellent food and friendly helpful service. Surprised by the relatively slow speed of delivery of meals given the small number of people on a quiet Thursday night. The hot and sour soup and the seafood basket were both excellent dishes. Personally prefer the lunch time Yum Cha service but enjoyed the taste and quality of the food.
Host was so smug, did not make eye contact. Dealing with a long que for a table gave him the sense that he could act terribly important and rude. Food was ok(yum cha, nothing too difficult), no complaints there. Staff just need to work on their attitude
Agree with recent reviews - poor service. We were put on a table at the back of the room furtherest from the kitchen and by the time the carts came past they were empty. Disappointing and will never be back.
Everything was great except host showing us to table seemed more friendly towards Chinese patrons....just my feeling

Pretty good food and service though the sprukers were a little pushy. Pasta was pretty good but not exceptional.
Poor service. We are not going back. It took 2-hours for our order to come. My grandson is so hungry.
