We came to take orders here today to answer the call of the Monrovia Chamber of Commerce to save our restaurant. The board has a campaign in partnership with many restaurants in Monrovia. For this week you will receive $10 for orders more than $30. We didn't want to miss this deal. We also help local restaurants. We wanted to try this place anyway. This is our chance. We got lucky on the parking, because this part of Monrovia is usually busy and crowded with tight parking. This gem of a sushi shop is a hidden jewel. It's very tiny and very reminiscent of the actual Japan like size of smaller spaces and close seating. There is only one chef and one waitress which works for a small place. This location is off to the side and it's a small location. They have 2 sides one that focuses mainly on a sushi bar set up and you can watch the sushi be made. The other focuses on everything that is on the menu including sushi. It was my first time here and prices are affordable, wide selection of food, and staff was very friendly. I had the tonkotsu ramen and made it a combo with karage. Definitely enjoyed both dishes and the broth to the ramen was flavorful but not super heavy which I liked. As for the $5 ramen I'm not sure what it was but feel free to ask them. I'll for sure be coming back to try the other dishes.
MoonCat ramen is divided in two parts. One side is the sushi/roll area, and the other is the ramen bar. You cannot order sushi at the ramen bar and vice versa so make sure you are in the correct place. I ordered miso ramen and my friend ordered tonkotsu. Both were delicious and came in big portions. We also ordered veggie gyoza which was crispy and not too oily. There are specialty drinks available at the store as well. I highly recommend this place if you want hearty comfort food! Service could use a little bit of work.
This place is great. It's a little resturant that serves good food and reality. I consider it the quickest. The food is great and wait is approximately 10 minutes depending on how busy the place is. This is my second time ordering here and I am not disappointed
I had a business guest pick the place and I was very pleased with the choice. I am very particular about sushi and this place hit all the right notes. A small unassuming redtaurant with great food. Highly recommended.
Great food, great service! Authentic authentic authentic! The only thing is that it's a very small place, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. On cold days you may need to sit outside but there is a heat lamp.
