All was fine until the owner went to scoop up the ice cream. He took off the lid and then lifted the tub out of the freezer with his face almost in the tub. I asked if he could wear a mask or not breath...all over the ice cream (like that). He got incensed and went on a lecture about what he knew as a nutritionist and then instead of explaining gov't suggestions nor changing his practice, he wouldn't serve me and rudely gave me my monye back. COVID or NO COVID one should be breathing directly onto food inches away from it. Definitely bad practice gross. And no hair net. The service from the woman at this restaurant was incredibly rude. She refused to look at me, didn't answer any questions I had about the halvah, and displayed silence, hostility, and absenteeism throughout the meal. Additionally, the prices were exorbitant - $12 for a small chai and a tiny piece of chocolate. I was also told not to take any photos. It seemed like the staff didn't care about treating customers well, especially considering how the people waiting for the ferry were treated. I waited for 30 minutes without anyone else offering to serve me. My advice is to spend your money at a place where you feel appreciated.
I love everything on this menu, especially the lattes! It remains to this day to best coconut coffee latte I have ever had. You can tell that the ingredients are organically sourced, and I don't mind paying a little extra for such quality. I have...seen reviews speaking to the service being rude, but in all my 5 years of living on the island, I have always been treated with kindness. I imagine that if I had to deal with people dashing in and out quickly between ferries I may get a little sour some days myself. At any rate, that has never been my experience and I love coming here.
I had a pleasant experience at the restaurant until the woman at the cashier made a rude remark when I tried to take a photo. Despite being initially treated well, the fake hippy positivity vibe and lack of courtesy from the staff made me not want to return or recommend this place. Never got to the south end of SSI before. Very funky atmosphere. Feel fortunate to be in this space~ leave your rush and expectations at the door and enter with your heart. The food was absolutely AMaZiNg !! So many flavours our mouths were exploding....Our boys loved everything (16, 12, 11) If you are vegan you HAVE to go here. Other people should probably come too maybe this will inspire you.
So so so amazing! What a beautiful place to land to on this beautiful island. This cafe is so incredible with food made with love. This is the best welcoming to salt spring island. Great organic products for such a fair price. And loads of...consciousness raising materials and books that really add the cherry on the cake. Will visit every time!
This restaurant serves the best chai latte made with fresh ingredients. Every visit is always a good experience, with interesting and unique offerings. The chocolate and house-made eggs are particularly refreshing. Definitely try something else on the menu, as well.
I will be quick: STAY AWAY unless you like supporting rude hostile business owners. How this place gets any good reviews is beyond belief. Very poor representation for Saltspring businesses and community. Reserviere jetzt einen Tisch
