Given the excellent reviews I have read about this establishment, I am disappointed by our experience. To be fair, it was just before closing time, but the staff member (I wouldn’t say ‘assistant’) basically ignored us.There were 1 chilli sauce, 1 tomato relish, 1 jam and 2 honeys out to taste on a counter opposite where the staff member was, with some small stale bread pieces. We did so taste, with no staff input, wandered around the shop (which sells a variety of ‘artisan’ cheeses, beers, preserves, chocolates etc at the usual high prices for such products), and bought a jar of the tasty tomato relish from the staff member, who appeared to want ‘an early minute’ as by then she’d put away t...

Despite the fact that there is plenty to choose from, I must admit I was not all that keen to try the tasting house as whisky, gin (in fact many spirits) and I have never been buddies. Well Julie you have converted me. Apart from the premium products I tried as part of a tasting, I could not believe how adding 1 -2 teaspoon of water to whiskey could change it so dramatically. The gin I tried infused with lemon myrtle literally came to life with taste & aroma with that small addition of tonic water which I normally detest. I am truly glad I went out of my comfort zone at your encouragement. SOLD!!!

We walked into the Tasting House at Richmond and were the only people inside. The lady behind the counter ignored us so we walked around and looked at everything by ourselves. The real log fire was very nice on a cold winter day. We finally decided to make conversation with the lady behind the counter, and only then did she become friendly and chatty. We were disappointed with the small amount of items available for tasting. We expected much more given the name is the "Tasting House". A bit of a waste of time for us. We did spend plenty of our tourist dollars at other establishments in Richmond.
